Is Potluck free?
Section titled “Is Potluck free?”Yes. No subscription, no ads, no premium tier. Potluck is free software under the AGPL-3.0 license, and its code is on GitHub.
Does Potluck move money?
Section titled “Does Potluck move money?”No. Potluck keeps track of who owes whom. You pay each other however you like (cash, bank transfer, a payment app) and then record the payment.
Do my friends need an account?
Section titled “Do my friends need an account?”Yes, everyone in a group has their own account. It takes a minute, and the invite link walks them through it.
Is there an app in the store?
Section titled “Is there an app in the store?”Not yet. Potluck is a web app you can install to your home screen. It then opens like any other app and can send push notifications.
Can I use Potluck just for planning, or just for money?
Section titled “Can I use Potluck just for planning, or just for money?”Yes. Groups have both, but nothing makes you use either. Plenty of groups only ever split bills.
Can I split something with one person, outside a group?
Section titled “Can I split something with one person, outside a group?”Yes. Open Friends and tap the person to start a one-on-one tab. See Friends.
Why does one person pay a cent more?
Section titled “Why does one person pay a cent more?”Because amounts like $100 split three ways do not divide into whole cents. Potluck hands out the leftover cents one at a time so the total is exact, and nobody pays more than one cent over their share. See How rounding works.
Why does Potluck say I owe someone I never split anything with?
Section titled “Why does Potluck say I owe someone I never split anything with?”That is simplified debts at work. It cuts the number of payments in a group without changing what anyone owes in total. An owner or admin can turn it off in Group settings.
Can I change a group’s currency?
Section titled “Can I change a group’s currency?”Only before any money is added. After that it is locked, because changing it would change what everyone owes. You can still add expenses in any currency.
Can I leave a group while I owe money?
Section titled “Can I leave a group while I owe money?”No. Settle up first, so nobody is left with a debt they cannot collect. See the open balance rule.
Who can see my expenses?
Section titled “Who can see my expenses?”Only the people in the group they belong to. See Privacy and security.
Can I undo a deleted expense?
Section titled “Can I undo a deleted expense?”Yes. Tap Undo right after deleting, or open the expense later and tap Restore. See Editing and deleting.
Can I export my data?
Section titled “Can I export my data?”Each group’s Expenses tab has an Export CSV button that downloads every expense in the group. See Groups.
Does Potluck work offline?
Section titled “Does Potluck work offline?”Not really. Potluck needs a connection to load and save your groups. If you lose signal, it says You seem to be offline. We will retry when you are back. Times you paint on a plan keep retrying on their own.
